Mac - Tarnished Love Cap

REQUIREMENT

Create an old looking, antique, "out-of-the-ground" appearance on a simple, smooth rectangular cap while highlighting the Mac name on top.
 

SOLUTION

By first sensitizing the ABS plastic cap creating proper conductivity on the the surface, the Part was then able to be brass electroplated. Then, by placing the cap in an oxidizing solution, the brass was made to rapidly tarnish. The parts were then subjected to a relief process causing a random pattern and highlighting the inset Mac name. The finish was then protected with a light satin UV overcoat.
