Clinique Compact Latch

REQUIREMENT

Polycarbonate material had to be used to mold this part as the functionality of the button was dependant on the proper flex and springback of the legs attached to each side of the part. Create Clinique signature silver and green marbleized compact and maintain the compact's functionality.

SOLUTION

Traditional treatments for adhesion promotion weakened and embrittled the legs and led to breakage and improper springback. A Plasma treatment was developed to allow flawless adhesion to the hard-to-adhere-to polycarbonate material while maintaining the same flex and springback as freshly molded parts. Additionally, a proprietary topcoat was used to avoid scuffing and scratching of the coating during bulk packaging, assembly and consumer use.

RESULT

On-time delivery of upwards of 100 million parts over several years to three separate molding customers without a single failure for fit, finish, and functionality.
